Individualized attention!  That's what separates Gehlen Catholic from other schools.

Gehlen Catholic ensures each student achieves his/her fullest potential by integrating the following strategies into the classroom:

v     An average of 12:1 student to teacher ratio;

v     Before and after school assistance from caring faculty;

v     Technology, outside projects, labs, field trips, and volunteering activities;

v     Trained volunteers;

v     Talented and gifted offerings;

v     Resource Rooms (also known as the Success Centers);

v     Strong core curriculum (reading, math, science & history); and

v     Parental Access Support System (online grading and electronic communications between faculty and parents).

Together these experiences provide students a broader understanding, greater knowledge, and a strong foundation to prepare for the post-secondary education of their choice.

Don’t just take our word for it.  See for yourself!

v    44% of students in grades 4-8 recognized as talented and gifted by Belin/Blank in 2008;

v    Five out of ten grades (3-12) class scored 90th%-ile or higher compared to other schools in Iowa on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills/Iowa Tests of Educational Development in again fall 2008;

v    The 2009 graduating class had a combined grade point average of 3.214 - a B+ for their four high school years.  Their top 15 individuals had a combined ACT average of 26.53.  The State of Iowa average for the 2008 graduating class was 22.0.

v    Their top 15 individuals in the 2009 graduating class had a combined ACT average of 26.53, which is above the state identified indicator of an ACT score of 20 (which indicates probable success at the post-secondary level); and

v    99.4% of graduates enrolled in post-secondary education or entered the military (8-year average).
