Business Class Places 2nd at SnackWise Competition

This year, Briar Cliff collaborated with Jolly Time Popcorn. According to Marilyn Eastman, BCU Business Instructor & SIFE Advisor, the program provides “high school business students opportunities to develop and market a healthy popcorn based snack. Besides learning how to develop and market a new product, students participating in the SnackWise Competition gain valuable business experiences and have the chance to earn money for their schools.”
This year’s Gehlen Catholic Business Class came up with Pop ‘N Pretzels. Through their brainstorming, the students adapted Nerd Ropes to their popcorn & pretzels healthy snack. Pop ‘N Pretzels featured pretzel sticks covered in chocolate almond bark, rolled in crushed popcorn and drizzled in caramel.
This year’s Business Class team was comprised of freshmen, Lauren Eide, Alli Galles, MacKenzie Kellen, and Rachelle Lipp. The class found the SnackWise competition a good experience to learn leadership qualities and how to run a small business.
The Business Class was able to keep their $70 in profit. They also earned $50 for placing 2nd. The Business Class donated their profits and winnings to Mission
