The 2006 Jays, had a memorable
summer. They started the season with a bang, jumping out to
an 8-3 record, and making their first appearance in the CYO
championship game. After finishing 2nd to Heelan
in the CYO tournament the
Jays went south, and fell on hard times. Losing 10 of the
last 15 games, the Jays fell to 13-14 after the regular
season.
But the start of the tournament
was all the Jays needed to kick start their dreams. The Jays
went on a roll, knocking of K-P, 5th ranked
Remsen St. Mary's, and defeating perennial power Spalding
Catholic in the District final. Squaring off with a tough
Westwood team in the Sub-State clash, the Jays were able to
prevail with a 6-0 win, sending the Jays to their 4th
state baseball appearance.
