In Prayer and Thanksgiving

We ask that you join us in remembering the following individuals and their families in your prayers, including those who have entered into eternal rest, the sick, unborn children, less fortunate of the world, service men and women, and those intentions we hold in our hearts.

Lorna June (Schnepf, '47) Doud has been diagnosed with stomach & colon cancer.  She is receiving care & support from Hospice. 

Fr. Cecil Friedman, former Gehlen Catholic teacher/administrator, who was hospitalized February 3, 2010.

Mike Hall ('62) has been hospitalized and receiving medical attention in California.  His wife is Pat (Kass, '63). 

Former Sister, Lea Woll ('59) entered into eternal rest on February 4, 2009.

Brea Scheitler, the 1.5 month of Mindy (Koopman, '97) & Toby Scheitler was hospitalized with RSV on January 29, 2010.

Eli Sitzmann, the 5-month old son of Bobbie (Langel, '00) & Joe ('99) Sitzmann is hospitalized in Sioux Falls.  They are running tests as he is not gaining weight & is miserable.   

Earl Britton (father of Kay Britton-Kellen, '77) was admitted at Mercy Medical Center on January 21, 2010. 

Tina Ortmann (mother of Joe, '97) is hospitalized in Omaha.  She is undergoing tests as her kidney & liver are not functioning & the doctors are uncertain as to the reason why.

Mrs. Jim (Joan) Sitzmann entered into eternal rest on January 3, 2010.  Her 10 children attended Gehlen Catholic; as well as many of her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Ken Rhodes, father of alumni Jacquie & Jeremy Rhodes, entered into eternal rest on December 31, 2009.

Grandma Phyllis Koopman, who has volunteered the past four years at Gehlen Catholic.  Phyllis entered into eternal rest on December 23, 2009.  Her children are graduates. 

Logan Kellen, one of the twin sons of Christina & Eric ('98) Kellen, was hospitalized with pnuemonia in December 2009. 

Mr. Steve (Betty Nemmers, '59) Shea (elementary & junior high physical education teacher) will have some procedures done to kill the tumor growing on his spine through early January 2010. 

Mrs. Laurie (1st grade teacher) Kellen's mom remains hospitalized after having a heart attack &  ovarian cancer surgery this fall & winter. 

Lorna (Schnepf, '47) Doud has several growths on her thyroid.  She is having tests.

Sister Jeanette Homan (former teacher & now Director of the LeMars Area Catholic Cluster's Religious Education) underwent a mastectomy on September 10, 2009, for breast cancer.

Dr. Tom Jeneary (husband of TK teacher, Mrs. Pam Jeneary) had a heart catherization on September 2, 2009.  He fortunately avoided a huge heart attack.

Ken, Dolores & Kandace ('84) Gerdes - Ken & Dolores were in an accident on August 15, 2009.  Dolores entered into eternal rest.  Ken is responding well to the excellent medical care he has received. 

Dan Ruden (Father of Robin Ellensohn, cafeteria & DJ Ruden & Stephanie Ruden Colton graduates of Gehlen) had brain surgery due to a car accident and is recovering at home.

Priests in the Sioux City Diocese (Year of the Priests) & for an increase in religious vocations throughout the world

Joe Hall ('58) had surgery on July 7, 2009.  He was diagnosed with metastic melanoma. 

Scott Tillman ('03) is deployed in the Mid East.

Scott Nussbaum has been deployed by the military.

John Holton's ('79) cancer came back.  He has undergone treatments & is doing better.

Karen (Ruden, '69) DeRocher has cancer.  She has been receiving treatments.
