Students & staff pay their final respects with the Silent Honor Guard.

In Prayer and Thanksgiving

We ask that you join us in remembering the following individuals and their families in your prayers, including those who have entered into eternal rest, the sick, unborn children, less fortunate of the world, service men and women, and those intentions we hold in our hearts.  (See also Alumni News.)

Geralyn Langel ('75) is battling cancer. 

Leslie (Mrs. Keith, '73) Langel

Jason Kinney ('02) is in the military and serving in Afghanistan.

Jean (Schleis) Baer entered into eternal rest on July 23, 2010.  Her husband, Larry, drives bus for Gehlen Catholic.  Jean's children graduated from Gehlen Catholic. 

Judy Puetz ('57) is receiving medical care.

Michael Traurig, the son of Margaret (Waite, former student) Traurig & nephew of Don Waite ('50) entered into eternal rest.

Helen Gehlen, great-granddaughter of Peter Gehlen, entered into eternal rest on July 4, 2010.  Helen had lymphoma. 

Former teacher, Marion Miller, entered into eternal rest on May 13, 2010.

Former teacher, Ruth Summerside, entered into eternal rest on May 12, 2010.

Scott Langel ('78)

Roger (Sharon Langel, '69) Weishaar has been diagnosed with cancer & is undergoing treatments.

Eli Sitzmann, the 5-month old son of Bobbie (Langel, '00) & Joe ('99) Sitzmann was hospitalized in Sioux Falls several times this winter with various health challenges. 

Mr. Steve (Betty Nemmers, '59) Shea (elementary & junior high physical education teacher) is undergoing treatments for melanoma.   

Mrs. Laurie (1st grade teacher) Kellen's mom has been undergoing treatments for ovarian cancer.  Her father has Alzheimer's. 

Ken Gerdes, father of Kandace ('84), is receiving medical care.

Priests in the Sioux City Diocese & the Women Religious for an increase in religious vocations throughout the world

  • To the Gehlen Catholic families, faculty & T.E.A.M., I would like to send my heartfelt thanks for the surprise card shower upon my retirement.  The outpouring of well wishes was truly overwhelming & humbling.  I am appreciative of all the support I have received from the Gehlen Catholic family & will look back on these years with many fond memories & gratitude.  

    Teaching children has always been my life’s focus following my faith & my family.  This school is truly blessed!  May God continue to shine His love & grace to each of you, Mrs. Pam Jeneary
